Helping Children Engage With Their World
Specialist occupational therapy for sensory processing, motor skills and everyday independence.

What we offer
Occupational Therapy supports children to participate fully in the activities that matter most — at home, at school and with their peers. At Abacus Psychology Service, our specialist OT team works with children who experience difficulties with sensory processing, interoception, fine and gross motor skills, self-care, emotional regulation and daily independence. We use a strengths-based, child-led approach — getting to know each child's unique sensory and developmental profile before creating practical, evidence-based strategies that can be embedded into everyday life.
Why Occupational Therapy Matters for Children
Many children who struggle with behaviour, attention, learning or emotional regulation are actually experiencing difficulties with how their brain and body process sensory information. These difficulties are real, neurological and often missed. Without the right support, sensory and motor difficulties can significantly impact a child's confidence, participation and wellbeing. Our OT team provides the specialist knowledge to identify what is happening and put practical, meaningful support in place.
Our Occupational Therapy Services
Sensory Processing Assessment
We assess how your child processes sensory information — including touch, sound, movement, taste and interoception — to understand the impact on their daily life and behaviour.
Interoception Support
We provide specialist support for children who struggle to identify and respond to internal signals like hunger, thirst, temperature and emotions.
Fine & Gross Motor Skills
We assess and support children with difficulties in coordination, balance, handwriting, self-care and physical activities — providing targeted therapy and practical strategies.
Sensory Diets & Environmental Modifications
We create personalised sensory diets and recommend environmental adjustments for home and school — practical tools that help children regulate and engage throughout the day.
School-Based OT Support
We can observe children in their school environment, provide reports for EHCP applications and work with staff to implement sensory and motor strategies in the classroom.
Parent & Carer Training
We offer guidance and training for parents and carers on how to support their child's sensory and occupational needs at home — practical, jargon-free and built around your family's routine.
