Experience
Andrea is a Registered Practitioner Psychologist with the Heath and Care Professions Council (HCPC), a Chartered Forensic Psychologist and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society, with over 20 years of applied psychology practice. She has held several senior management positions within His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service and prior to leaving the Service was the Deputy Head of the Counter Terrorism Assessment and Rehabilitation Centre (CT-ARC) in Prison Service Head Quarters.Andrea now works primarily in private practice, with residential children care providers, supporting the development and expansion of their psychological services provision, in addition to working clinically with children, their parents and carers.
Andrea has significant clinical experience in engaging those individuals described as resistant, unmotivated and/or disengaged, as well as working with those presenting with complex and challenging behavioural needs, adopting a holistic, trauma informed, strengths based, future-focused approach, utilising a mixture of intervention models such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy for Adolescents (DBT-A), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).
Andrea provides both clinical and professional supervision to trainee psychologists, probation staff, education and care providers. She is registered on the British Psychological Society’s Register of Applied Psychology Practice Supervisors (RAPPS), certifying her professional qualifications and experience in supervisory practice.
