We provide comprehensive autism assessments for children and young people from early years through to age 17. Our assessments are conducted by experienced clinical psychologists and follow NICE guidelines throughout. We use gold-standard diagnostic tools including the ADOS-2 and ADI-R, and every assessment is conducted by a multidisciplinary team.
We understand that reaching this point has often involved a long journey for families. Our approach is warm, child-centred, and designed to put your child at ease. Parents and carers are an essential part of the process and we will always take time to hear your concerns and observations.
Following the assessment you will receive a comprehensive written report with a clear diagnostic conclusion, an accessible formulation of your child's strengths and difficulties, and specific practical recommendations for home, school, and any onward referrals.

Here is what you can expect from our children's autism assessment process:
1.
Initial consultation call
A 30-minute call with one of our clinicians to discuss your concerns, answer your questions, and confirm that an autism assessment is the right next step for your child.

Pre-assessment questionnaires
We send you a set of standardised questionnaires to complete before the assessment day. These help us prepare thoroughly and make the most of the time with your child.

Child assessment session
A structured, play-based assessment using the ADOS-2. Our clinician works directly with your child in a relaxed and child-friendly environment. Children typically find this enjoyable.

Parent and carer interview
A detailed interview with parents or carers using the ADI-R, gathering your observations of your child's development and behaviour from an early age. This runs concurrently with the child session.
5
School or setting observation (if required)
Where clinically indicated, one of our team will observe your child in their school or nursery setting. This provides valuable additional information and is discussed with you in advance.
6
Clinical team review
Our multidisciplinary team reviews all assessment information and reaches a diagnostic conclusion. This internal process ensures rigour and consistency.
