Understanding Your Child's World
NICE-compliant, gold-standard autism assessments — delivered with care, clarity and expertise.

What we offer
An autism assessment can be life-changing — providing answers, unlocking support and helping your child and family understand themselves in a new way. At Abacus Psychology Service, we provide comprehensive, NICE-guideline compliant autism assessments for children using gold-standard diagnostic tools. Our assessments are thorough, compassionate and clearly communicated — and we do not believe in putting families on lengthy waiting lists. Our multidisciplinary team includes Clinical Psychologists, specialist assessors, Occupational Therapists and Speech and Language Therapists, meaning we can offer a truly holistic picture of your child's strengths, profile and support needs.
Why an Early Autism Assessment Matters
Understanding whether your child is autistic can open doors to the right support, the right strategies and a community of people who truly understand their experience. Many autistic children spend years struggling in environments that are not designed for them — leading to anxiety, school avoidance, low self-esteem and family stress. A timely, accurate assessment means that support can be put in place earlier, that schools can adapt their approach, and that your child can begin to understand and celebrate who they are.
What Our Assessment Includes
Pre-Assessment Consultation
We begin with a detailed consultation to understand your child's background, your concerns and what you are hoping to learn from the assessment. This shapes every stage of the process.
Gold-Standard Diagnostic Tools
We use ADOS-2 and ADI-R — the internationally recognised gold-standard tools for autism assessment in children.
Multidisciplinary Assessment
Where indicated, we involve Occupational Therapists and Speech and Language Therapists in the assessment, ensuring we capture your child's full profile including sensory, motor and communication needs.
Detailed Written Report
You will receive a comprehensive written report clearly explaining the findings, your child's strengths and difficulties, and practical recommendations for home, school and wider support.
Feedback Session
We always include a dedicated feedback appointment to walk you through the findings, answer your questions and discuss next steps — in plain language, without jargon.
Post-Diagnosis Support
Our involvement does not end at the report. We can help with EHCP applications, school support plans, therapy recommendations and onward referrals — so you are never left without a next step.
