Investing in the People Who Invest in Children
Evidence-based training and wellbeing support for school staff — delivered by qualified psychologists.

What we offer
School staff are operating under unprecedented pressure — managing increasingly complex pupil needs, supporting children through mental health crises, and doing so in a system that rarely provides adequate support for the supporters. At Abacus Psychology Service, we offer bespoke training and wellbeing programmes for teaching and support staff — designed to build knowledge, skills and resilience in the people who matter most to children's outcomes. All training is delivered by qualified psychologists with direct experience of working in educational settings.
Why Staff Wellbeing Is a School Improvement Priority
Staff wellbeing is directly linked to pupil outcomes. When school staff are overwhelmed, under-supported or poorly equipped to manage the complexity they face, the consequences are felt in the classroom. Investing in staff wellbeing and professional development is not a luxury — it is a fundamental component of an effective, sustainable school. Our programmes are designed to build genuine capability and confidence, not just tick CPD boxes.
Our Staff Wellbeing & Training Services
Mental Health Awareness Training
Evidence-based mental health training for all school staff — covering the most common difficulties seen in children and young people, how to recognise warning signs and how to respond helpfully.
Trauma-Informed Practice
Practical training in trauma-informed approaches — helping staff understand how trauma affects learning, behaviour and relationships, and how to create trauma-sensitive classroom environments.
Autism & Neurodiversity Training
Specialist training on autism and neurodiversity in the classroom — building understanding, reducing conflict and developing more effective, inclusive approaches to support.
Emotional Regulation & Behaviour
Training to help staff understand the emotional and neurological basis of challenging behaviour — and develop skilled, regulated responses that support rather than escalate.

Psychologist-facilitated staff wellbeing sessions — including group reflective practice, stress management, burnout prevention and building a psychologically safe staff culture.
