A Safe Space to Begin Healing
Specialist, trauma-informed assessment and therapy for children who have experienced adversity.

What we offer
Trauma in childhood can take many forms — abuse, neglect, loss, domestic violence, accidents, medical experiences or the cumulative effects of ongoing stress and adversity. Whatever your child has experienced, their responses are real, valid and understandable — and with the right support, recovery is possible. At Abacus Psychology Service, our specialist trauma team includes Clinical and Counselling Psychologists and trauma therapists with extensive experience supporting children, young people and families through the complex aftermath of traumatic experience.
Why Trauma-Informed Support is Essential
When children experience trauma, it changes the way their brain and body respond to the world. What can look like naughtiness, defiance or emotional immaturity is often a child doing their best to cope with something overwhelming. Without trauma-informed support, these children are frequently misunderstood — labelled, punished or excluded when what they need is compassionate, specialist intervention. Early, effective trauma therapy can significantly improve outcomes for children — reducing the impact on mental health, attachment, learning and relationships.
